Reality is only in the present. What happened in the past is only a memory in the present. So why are the memories of the past so painful in the present? Because we allow them to consume us. When we allow the past (memories) to invade our mind, the devil is stealing our joy in the present. Jesus says in John 10:10 (NLV) “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”
The same pain we felt in the past should no longer feel the same in the present. So how do we take control of the present? Give the past to God. If the pain you feel today is related to something you did in the past, or something done to you, give it to God. If you truly believe in Him, He will take that burden from you and will replace it with His peace.
Live for today, for today is your only reality. Find joy in all that you do or encounter. No matter the circumstances, look for the opportunities God will provide, for God always has a plan. Romans 8:28 (NLV) says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” If things aren’t going your way, stay faithful, trust God. Find comfort and peace in knowing He’s with you. If things are going your way, don’t take them for granted. Thank God for His blessings and enjoy yourself to the fullest.
Don’t let the devil win the battle of the present. Yesterday in but a memory, it is no longer your reality. Tomorrow is the future and it is not yet real. Today is the only “real” you should feel.
